Age Requirement

Junior Debate competitors should be ages 9-12. 12 year-olds must have turned 12 after October 1, 2023. Please email me for exceptions.

Junior Debate — $15

Registration

Please email registrar@invictusfides.org with the following information:

• First and Last Name
• Date of Birth
• Debate Partner (or "Need Partner")

Junior Resolution — Resolved: Museums are better than zoos.

Junior Debate is all about having fun and building debate skills!

Here are the basics to get you started:

• The Junior Debate Tournament will have two rounds, giving each team the chance to compete on the affirmative and negative sides of the resolution. Rounds will take place during Parliamentary Debate, but exact round times are TBD.

• Junior Debate is a partnered event, and your student will sign up to debate both rounds with the same partner as a team.

• Your student will work with their partner to research, gather evidence, and write an affirmative case supporting the resolution.

• Each Junior Debate team will also research for their negative round, compiling evidence and arguments for their negative round.

• Each team may have a mentor, a senior competitor willing to work with them before and during the rounds to guide and give moral support.
